Assassin's Creed Black Flag's Long-Rumored Remake Has Finally Been Confirmed By Ubisoft

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

The worst-kept secret in gaming is finally official. After months of rumors fueled by art books, statues, and every piece of merchandise imaginable, Ubisoft has confirmed that the Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake is real. It's called Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced, and it's actually happening.

Ubisoft Makes It Official

In a new YouTube video, Ubisoft head of content Jean Guesdon outlined the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise — and dropped the bombshell confirmation fans have been waiting for.

The accompanying website update leaned into the mystery with a cheeky nod to the series' famous creed:

"Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: 'Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.' Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon."

Unfortunately, that's all we got. No trailer, no release window, no gameplay details — just confirmation that it exists and more news is coming. Insiders have teased that we could hear more this summer, but nothing's locked in yet.

Other Assassin's Creed News

Ubisoft didn't stop at Black Flag. The video also included some other franchise updates:

  • Assassin's Creed Shadows is winding down support
  • Work continues on Invictus and Hexe
  • Assassin's Creed Unity is getting a 60fps update for Xbox Series X and PS5 — tomorrow

Seriously, if you haven't played Unity, now's the time. It's criminally underrated.

Final Thoughts

It's nice to finally have official confirmation on Black Flag: Resynced, even if the details are still thin. Edward Kenway's pirate adventure is one of the most beloved entries in the series, and a full remake has massive potential.

Now we wait for that summer reveal. Keep your spyglass ready.

"I'm Sick Of Having To Repeat Myself:" Crimson Desert PR Insists It Isn't Hiding Console Footage Before Launch

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

Crimson Desert is shaping up to be the RPG of many people's dreams. A massive open-world sandbox set in a gorgeous fantasy world, complete freedom to explore, no grinding or leveling — just pure adventure. Oh, and no microtransactions. From everything Pearl Abyss has shown us, it looks incredibly promising.

But there's a growing problem. Console fans are getting nervous.

With the game's March 19 release date rapidly approaching, there's been a noticeable lack of information about how Crimson Desert will actually run on PlayStation and Xbox. Most previews — including ours from senior reporter Sam Woods — have been on PC, leaving potential console buyers sweating bullets.

And now, accusations are flying that Pearl Abyss is deliberately hiding console footage because it's not ready.

Pearl Abyss PR Is Pushing Back Hard

The accusations have gotten loud enough that Will Powers, Pearl Abyss' PR and marketing director, took to Twitter to address them directly. And he's clearly frustrated.

Powers stressed that the team is "not hiding anything" and that he's "sick of having to repeat [him]self" about these claims.

Is This Another Cyberpunk 2077 Situation?

It's hard to blame fans for being skeptical. We've seen this exact playbook before.

When Cyberpunk 2077 launched, CD Projekt Red gave reviewers only PC codes, deliberately hiding how broken the PlayStation and Xbox versions were. The result was a disaster — refunds, apologies, years of damage control, and a permanently damaged reputation.

The lack of console footage for Crimson Desert has understandably triggered those same alarm bells for many players. And the closer we get to launch without seeing console gameplay, the louder those alarm bells get.

"Let Us Cook" Isn't Exactly Reassuring

To be fair to concerned fans, hearing "let us cook" from a developer releasing a game in just over two weeks isn't exactly comforting. Healthy skepticism is a good thing, especially after the industry's track record with botched console launches.

A lot of this anxiety could be easily alleviated by simply showing console gameplay. The fact that Pearl Abyss hasn't done so yet — despite repeated requests and mounting pressure — is slightly concerning, even if Powers insists everything is fine.

My Take: Wait For Reviews If You're Worried

Personally, I don't think this will be another Cyberpunk situation. Pearl Abyss has been far more communicative than CD Projekt Red was back then. There's been transparency in other areas, and the team seems genuinely engaged with the community.

But if you're genuinely worried about console performance, the smart move is simple: wait for reviews and hands-on impressions before you buy. Skip the preorder, let others test it first, and make an informed decision. There's no rush — the game will still be there a week after launch.

Starfield's Long-Rumoured PS5 Port Is Reportedly Launching Next Month

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

It's finally happening — Starfield is coming to PS5 next month. At least, that's what a new report claims. According to reliable insider Billbil-kun from Deallabs, the long-rumored PlayStation port has a release date of April 7, 2026

What We Know About The PS5 Launch

Billbil-kun's report confirms earlier claims from PPE.pl, stating that Starfield will hit PS5 on April 7. Deallabs says it conducted its own investigation and found the information to be accurate, adding significant weight to the rumor.

Here's where things get interesting: the pricing will apparently be different from the Xbox and PC versions.

EditionPrice (EU)Price (UK)
Standard€49.99£44.99
Premium€69.99£59.99

That likely translates to $49.99 and $69.99 in the US. Curiously, that's much cheaper than the current Xbox and PC listings (€79.99 and €109.99), which could mean a price cut is coming across all platforms.

Another notable detail: purchasing the premium edition won't grant early access. This could suggest a shadowdrop announcement, or perhaps Microsoft and Bethesda simply see no point in early access for a game that's already been out elsewhere for years.

Big Starfield News Coming Soon?

This report arrives alongside fellow insider Shinobi602 teasing that we'd be getting some major Starfield news very soon. Part of that is likely the big update Bethesda has already hinted at, but it could also include confirmation of the PS5 port and a permanent price reduction.

What About Switch 2?

If you're hoping for Starfield on Nintendo Switch 2, don't hold your breath. The game was noticeably absent from Bethesda's recent wave of Switch 2 ports, and reports suggest it may never come to the platform.

Final Thoughts

After years of waiting, PlayStation fans are finally getting Starfield — and at a lower price, no less. April 7 can't come soon enough.

Are you picking up Starfield on PS5? Or have you already played it elsewhere? Drop your thoughts below! Stay questing — and follow @TheDailyQuest0 for more daily gaming quests! ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿš€

Don't Trust Resident Evil Requiem's In-Game Timer – You've Probably Played For Longer

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

Resident Evil Requiem has dual protagonists and multiple endings, but it's not a particularly long game. At least, that's what the in-game timer would have you believe. But if you've been playing and thought your total playtime seemed a little low, you're not alone.

Players are reporting that Requiem's in-game timer is drastically underestimating how long they've actually played — in some cases, by a huge margin.

The Timer Is Cutting Hours Of Playtime

Reliable Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has noticed the discrepancy thanks to player reports and livestreams.

That's almost half the actual playtime unaccounted for.

According to Dusk Golem, the timer stops during cutscenes and deaths, but there might be more to it. One player in the comments suggested the timer pauses for almost everything:

"I'm pretty sure the in-game timer stops every time you do anything that's not walking around. Open map, open inventory, read file, interact with interactable, view cutscene, etc. It's a pure gameplay timer."

This Isn't New For Resident Evil

This isn't the first time Capcom has done this. Previous games like Resident Evil 2 Remake also featured timers that only counted "pure" gameplay time. It's a useful feature for speedrunners and players aiming for S-ranks, but it can be misleading for everyone else.

It would be great if Capcom clearly explained what's counted and what's not, but for now, just know that your real playtime is probably much higher than what the game shows.

Final Thoughts

If you're wondering why your first Requiem playthrough only took "8 hours" according to the game, it's because the timer is lying to you. Don't worry — you haven't lost your mind.

Have you noticed Requiem's wonky timer? What's your real playtime vs. your in-game time? Drop your numbers below! Stay questing — and follow @TheDailyQuest0 for more daily gaming quests! ๐ŸŽฎ⏰

God Of War Creator Says Amazon's Show Will Be Good, But That Teaser Image Was "So Bad In So Many Ways"

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

We've been drowning in God of War news lately. Santa Monica's next game is reportedly a spinoff focusing on Faye, Bluepoint's cancelled live-service game might have featured Atreus in Greek hell, and — biggest of all — we finally got our first look at Kratos and Atreus in Amazon's live-action God of War TV series.

Unfortunately, that first look... wasn't great. In fact, series creator David Jaffe thinks it was downright terrible — even though he's confident the show itself will be fine.

Fans Thought The Image Was AI-Generated

When the teaser image dropped, a lot of fans initially assumed it was AI-generated. The lighting felt off, the positioning was awkward, and something just seemed... wrong. Things got worse when Prime Video confirmed it was an actual official image.

The biggest point of mockery? Ryan Hurst's Kratos and his noticeable dad-bod. Not exactly the chiseled God-killer fans were expecting.

David Jaffe Couldn't Help But Laugh

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jaffe addressed the image — and he did not hold back.

"Two things can be true. This can be a terrible image, and it is. It is so bad in so many ways. Ron Moore is awesome, who is the showrunner. He's done Star Trek stuff. The guy is a juggernaut of a talented fellow. I have absolutely no doubt it is going to be a good show. Corey is on it. I think Corey has a great deal to offer, not just to this universe, but he's great with storytelling. I'm not worried about the show."

Jaffe made it clear he doesn't care if Hurst doesn't look exactly like Kratos — what matters is whether the actor can embody the essence of the character. But the image itself? Inexcusable.

"It's just a dumb f**ing image."*

He suggested maybe Amazon was trying to highlight the father-son dynamic rather than Kratos' rage and strength. But even then...

"Could you find a picture that doesn't look like he's s**ting in the woods? Because that's what the picture looks like."

Atreus Didn't Escape Criticism Either

Jaffe also had thoughts about how Atreus was portrayed:

"Is he a little kid that needs glasses? Is he a little kid that maybe is a little special? Because look how he's holding the bow and where he's aiming the bow. It's like he's not aiming. It's just weird the way the whole image looks."

He even took a shot at the fake-looking rock behind them. Nothing was spared.

But The Show Will Probably Be Fine

Despite the brutal critique, Jaffe remains optimistic about the actual series:

"I'm sure the show will be fine though, primarily because Ron Moore is a really good creator and showrunner, and Corey's involved."

But not before one final jab — whoever approved that image needs to be "on some kind of list."

Final Thoughts

Jaffe's confidence in Ron Moore and Cory Barlog is reassuring, but Amazon really needs to step up their marketing game. First impressions matter, and that teaser image did the show no favors.

Resident Evil Requiem Has The Best Metacritic User Reviews Ever – By Far The Highest In The Series

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

The 2026 Game of the Year race has officially begun, and it's already getting spicy. Mewgenics came out swinging with an 88 on Metacritic, but just two weeks later, Resident Evil Requiem matched that score and became the highest-rated original game in the series in over 20 years.

But here's where things get truly wild: now that the game is in players' hands, the user reviews are rolling in — and they're historic.

Requiem Is Now The Highest User-Reviewed Game On Metacritic

As of Monday, February 2, with over 2,250 reviews, Resident Evil Requiem holds a staggering 9.5/10 user score on Metacritic. That's not just the best in the Resident Evil series — it's the highest user-reviewed game in Metacritic history.

Let that sink in.

On Steam, the reception is equally glowing. Requiem sits at Overwhelmingly Positive with nearly 18,000 reviews. Critics and fans are clearly aligned on this one.

Here at TheGamer, we scored it 4/5, saying: "Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft engage in a delicate dance where all of their complicated steps work together in relative harmony despite some minor missteps." That sentiment has clearly resonated with the broader community.

How Does Requiem Compare To Other RE Games?

Before Requiem, Resident Evil 4 (2005) held the crown for highest user reviews in the series. Here's how the full rankings shake out:

GameMetacritic User Score
Resident Evil Requiem9.5
Resident Evil 4 (2005)9.1
Resident Evil 4 (2023)8.9
Resident Evil Remake (2002)8.9
Resident Evil 2 (2019)8.8
Resident Evil (1998)8.8
Resident Evil (1996)8.7
Resident Evil 2 (1999)8.7
Resident Evil Village8.4
Resident Evil Code: Veronica8.3
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard8.2
Resident Evil: Revelations8.1
Resident Evil 07.9
Resident Evil: Revelations 27.6
Resident Evil 57.2
Resident Evil 3 (2020)6.7
Resident Evil 65.4

Requiem didn't just beat RE4 — it demolished the competition.

The Best-Reviewed Game On All Of Metacritic

Requiem's dominance extends beyond just the Resident Evil series. Its 9.5 user score also makes it the best-reviewed title ever on the entire platform.

Last year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed that crown by dethroning legends like Metal Gear Solid and The Witcher 3 with its own 9.5. Now, Requiem has edged past it — fractionally, but enough to take the top spot.

Will It Last?

There's always a chance the score drops as more reviews come in, but for now, Capcom has every reason to celebrate. Requiem is already one of the most-played single-player games ever on Steam, and the user reception is unprecedented.

Final Thoughts

Resident Evil Requiem isn't just a great Resident Evil game — it's potentially the best-received game ever according to players. Capcom knocked it out of the park.

Have you played Requiem yet? Does it deserve the hype? Drop your score below! Stay questing — and follow @TheDailyQuest0 for more daily gaming quests! ๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸงŸ๐Ÿ†

Former God Of War Writer Says Sony Santa Monica Is Developing A "New Franchise" In The GOW Universe

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

There's never been a more exciting time to be a God of War fan. The classic trilogy is getting a remake, the recent Norse saga is still beloved, and now we have our most concrete hint yet about what Sony Santa Monica is working on next. According to the LinkedIn profile of a former senior writer at the studio, they're developing a "new franchise in the God of War universe".

Wait — a new franchise? Let's break this down.

What We Know So Far

As spotted by ResetEra user nolifebr and originally discovered by St. Elmo's Fire, the LinkedIn profile of Lauren Signorino, a former senior writer at Sony Santa Monica, revealed some interesting details about the studio's next project.

Signorino's profile described her work on a "new franchise in the God of War universe" — suggesting whatever's coming might not star Kratos or Atreus at all.

The profile has since been deleted or made private, but screenshots are circulating online.

What Does "New Franchise" Mean?

For a while, many assumed Sony Santa Monica's next game would be another Kratos adventure — possibly taking the Ghost of Sparta to Egypt. Others hoped for a God of Mischief spinoff starring Loki (which, honestly, sounds incredible).

But this "new franchise" wording suggests something different entirely. A new character? A new realm? A completely fresh take on the God of War mythology?

Interestingly, this lines up with what Bloomberg's Jason Schreier previously said about the game — that it would feel like a new IP, but technically isn't one. If Sony Santa Monica is introducing a new protagonist or significantly changing the formula, it could explain why insiders describe it that way.

What About Bluepoint's Cancelled God Of War Game?

Here's where things get murky. Before being shut down, Bluepoint Games was reportedly working on a live-service God of War title starring Atreus. That project is now dead.

If Bluepoint's game was Atreus-focused and got cancelled, Sony Santa Monica's "new franchise" likely features someone else entirely. A brand-new character stepping into the God of War spotlight would be a bold move — but also an exciting one.

When Will We See It?

Sony Santa Monica hasn't officially announced anything yet, but rumors suggest a reveal could come as early as this summer. Between this mysterious new project and the confirmed classic trilogy remake, PlayStation clearly has big plans for the God of War franchise — even if Kratos isn't at the center of all of them.

Final Thoughts

A "new franchise" in the God of War universe is a tantalizing tease. Whether it's a new protagonist, a new realm, or something completely unexpected, Sony Santa Monica seems ready to expand beyond Kratos.
