"I'm Sick Of Having To Repeat Myself:" Crimson Desert PR Insists It Isn't Hiding Console Footage Before Launch

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

Crimson Desert is shaping up to be the RPG of many people's dreams. A massive open-world sandbox set in a gorgeous fantasy world, complete freedom to explore, no grinding or leveling — just pure adventure. Oh, and no microtransactions. From everything Pearl Abyss has shown us, it looks incredibly promising.

But there's a growing problem. Console fans are getting nervous.

With the game's March 19 release date rapidly approaching, there's been a noticeable lack of information about how Crimson Desert will actually run on PlayStation and Xbox. Most previews — including ours from senior reporter Sam Woods — have been on PC, leaving potential console buyers sweating bullets.

And now, accusations are flying that Pearl Abyss is deliberately hiding console footage because it's not ready.

Pearl Abyss PR Is Pushing Back Hard

The accusations have gotten loud enough that Will Powers, Pearl Abyss' PR and marketing director, took to Twitter to address them directly. And he's clearly frustrated.

Powers stressed that the team is "not hiding anything" and that he's "sick of having to repeat [him]self" about these claims.

Is This Another Cyberpunk 2077 Situation?

It's hard to blame fans for being skeptical. We've seen this exact playbook before.

When Cyberpunk 2077 launched, CD Projekt Red gave reviewers only PC codes, deliberately hiding how broken the PlayStation and Xbox versions were. The result was a disaster — refunds, apologies, years of damage control, and a permanently damaged reputation.

The lack of console footage for Crimson Desert has understandably triggered those same alarm bells for many players. And the closer we get to launch without seeing console gameplay, the louder those alarm bells get.

"Let Us Cook" Isn't Exactly Reassuring

To be fair to concerned fans, hearing "let us cook" from a developer releasing a game in just over two weeks isn't exactly comforting. Healthy skepticism is a good thing, especially after the industry's track record with botched console launches.

A lot of this anxiety could be easily alleviated by simply showing console gameplay. The fact that Pearl Abyss hasn't done so yet — despite repeated requests and mounting pressure — is slightly concerning, even if Powers insists everything is fine.

My Take: Wait For Reviews If You're Worried

Personally, I don't think this will be another Cyberpunk situation. Pearl Abyss has been far more communicative than CD Projekt Red was back then. There's been transparency in other areas, and the team seems genuinely engaged with the community.

But if you're genuinely worried about console performance, the smart move is simple: wait for reviews and hands-on impressions before you buy. Skip the preorder, let others test it first, and make an informed decision. There's no rush — the game will still be there a week after launch.
