Resident Evil Showcase Announced: Deep Dive into "Requiem" and the Return of Leon Kennedy!

Hey, Daily Quest readers! If you’ve been feeling like the Resident Evil franchise has been a bit quiet lately, strap in. Capcom just confirmed that a Resident Evil Showcase will air on January 15, 2026, and it’s looking like a massive info-dump for the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem (RE9).

Set your alarms for 5:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM PT. This 12-minute digital event is perfectly timed to build maximum hype before the game’s worldwide launch on February 27, 2026.

What to Expect: 12 Minutes of Terror

Capcom has been unusually secretive about Requiem—even going so far as to deny Leon S. Kennedy was in the game for nearly a year—but the teaser trailer makes it clear the gloves are off.

  • Leon vs. The Chainsaw: The 10-second teaser showed Leon engaged in brutal melee combat with a chainsaw-wielding zombie in a lab coat. Eagle-eyed fans noticed he can parry attacks (similar to RE4 Remake), but the biggest surprise was the first-person view showing Leon aiming down sights, a first for the modern first-person entries.

  • Dual Protagonist Split: Director Koshi Nakanishi is expected to explain how the gameplay is split between Leon and newcomer Grace Ashcroft. Rumors suggest Leon’s sections are "pulse-pounding action" while Grace’s missions in the Wrenwood Hotel are pure, "helpless" survival horror.

  • Developer Insights: This will be our first time hearing from the devs since Leon’s "secret" return was revealed at The Game Awards. Expect them to address why they kept him hidden for so long.

The "Open World" Raccoon City?

While the Showcase is titled "Resident Evil," the focus is strictly on Requiem. However, keep an eye out for confirmation on the "Three Town" structure leaked by Dusk Golem. Recent NVIDIA tech demos for DLSS 4 showed Grace walking through a bustling (and seemingly intact) city street, suggesting the game might feature semi-open world exploration across Wrenwood, Roads Hill, and the radioactive ruins of Raccoon City.

Switch 2 & The "Generation Pack"

For the Nintendo fans, this showcase is likely to be a "Switch 2" blowout.

  • Launch Titles: Resident Evil Requiem, RE7, and RE Village are all launching natively on the Switch 2 on February 27.

  • The Bundle: Capcom is marketing a Resident Evil Generation Pack, which includes all three games in one physical or digital box.

  • Amiibo & Gear: We’re expecting more looks at the Grace Ashcroft Amiibo and the custom gunmetal-black Switch 2 Pro Controller.

The "One More Thing" Rumors

While the showcase is "Requiem-focused," Capcom has a habit of dropping surprises. Insiders like Dusk Golem have been whispering about Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica remakes for months. While a full trailer is unlikely, don't be surprised if we get a "Currently in Development" logo splash at the very end to celebrate the series' 30th Anniversary.

What’s your take, Quest squad? Are you Team Leon (Action) or Team Grace (Horror)? And are you picking up the "Generation Pack" for the Switch 2? Let us know in the comments!
