Bethesda has deployed a new mid-season update for Fallout 76, moving the game to Version 1.7.23.11. While this patch is lighter on new content, it focuses heavily on quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes for the recently expanded regions of Appalachia and Burning Springs.
Whether you're a seasoned bounty hunter or a newly-turned Ghoul, here is everything you need to know about the January 20, 2026 update.
Platform Download Sizes
The file sizes vary significantly depending on your platform, so make sure you have enough storage space cleared before starting the download:
Xbox: 28.9 GB
PlayStation: 12.8 GB
PC (Microsoft Store): 26.7 GB
PC (Steam): 14.7 GB
Key Gameplay & C.A.M.P. Changes
The update brings several highly-requested tweaks to gear and building:
Ulysses Mask Buff: You can now wear additional headwear and eyeglasses alongside the Ulysses Mask, allowing for more wasteland fashion flexibility.
All Rise Rebalance: The unique melee weapon received a significant buff, increasing its health bonus from +10 HP to +50 HP. It also now includes the Juggernaut's and Steady mods by default.
Legendary Tweaks: The Elementalist mod now grants +5 Radiation Resistance.
C.A.M.P. Clarity: New descriptions have been added to resource collectors. For example, the Wall Mounted Oven now explicitly states it "Collects Meat over time."
Quest & "The Ghoul Within" Fixes
Following the major Burning Springs expansion and The Ghoul Within update, Bethesda has addressed several narrative bugs:
Disguise Requirement: In a shift that has sparked some debate on Reddit, Player Ghouls now once again require a disguise to enter Crater Core and Fort Atlas.
Welcoming Committee: Fixed a major bug where players couldn't interact with Silas or the Rust King if they were a Ghoul wearing a disguise.
Bounty Hunting: Addressed an issue where Head Hunts wouldn't complete if the target was killed too quickly (a common problem for high-level builds!).
Known Issues & Temporary Deactivations
Despite the long list of fixes, Bethesda highlighted two major issues currently affecting players:
Gleaming Depths Weekly Challenge: This challenge has been temporarily deactivated while the team investigates reports of it failing to track properly or auto-completing incorrectly.
Missing French Voiceover: Due to production difficulties, the Burning Springs update currently lacks French VO. Bethesda recommends using subtitles for the time being.
What’s Next for 2026?
As Fallout 76 enters its seventh year, the 2026 roadmap is looking packed. Beyond these maintenance patches, fans can look forward to:
Mothman Equinox: Returning January 27 – February 10.
Love Hurts Mini-Season: Debuting February 3.
Next-Gen Native Versions: Native apps for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 are still slated for later this year, promising improved performance and visuals.
