Lara Croft Set to Appear at The Game Awards
There will be some kind of Tomb Raider announcement at The Game Awards on December 11. Host and organizer Geoff Keighley confirmed the news today, saying, "Lara Croft returns at The Game Awards."
"Tune in Thursday night for a look at the future of one of gaming's most iconic franchises, Tomb Raider," Keighley added. "This is one you won't want to miss."
Remake Rumors Add Fuel to the Announcement
The confirmation of Tomb Raider news at The Game Awards comes shortly after a report claimed that a remake of the original 1996 Tomb Raider is currently in development and set to be revealed during the show. While no official details have been shared yet, the timing has fueled speculation that this rumored remake could be part of the presentation.
The Broader Future of the Tomb Raider Franchise
In addition to the rumored remake, Crystal Dynamics is actively working on the next mainline Tomb Raider game, which will be published by Amazon. Amazon is also expanding the franchise beyond games, with a live-action Tomb Raider TV series in development for Prime Video. The series will star Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.
What Else to Expect at The Game Awards
The Game Awards will take place on Thursday, December 11, starting at 5 PM PT and 8 PM ET. Alongside Tomb Raider news, the event will feature a new Total War game announcement, a fresh Resident Evil Requiem trailer, and details on Devil May Cry Season 2 from Netflix.
Beyond world premieres and reveals, the show will also celebrate the year in gaming. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 leads this year with 12 nominations, including Game of the Year, making it the most-nominated title in the event’s history. Fans can also expect a full slate of awards, surprises, and high-profile announcements throughout the night.
