Is the Future of Assassin’s Creed "Two Heroes" Instead of One?

Do you love the choice between a heavy hitter and a stealthy ninja in Assassin's Creed Shadows? Well, get used to it!

Ubisoft hasn't officially announced the next big game yet, but Simon Lemay-Comtois (the Associate Director for Shadows) just dropped some big hints. He says the "dual-protagonist" style we see with Yasuke and Naoe could happen again in future games.

Why Two Heroes?

It all comes down to the story. Simon told GamesRadar that if the setting and the plot make sense, they will definitely do it again.

This isn't actually new. Remember Assassin’s Creed Syndicate? We had the twins, Jacob and Evie. However, Shadows takes it a step further. In this game, the heroes play very differently:

  • Yasuke is built for big, loud fights.

  • Naoe is perfect for sneaking around in the shadows.

Simon admits this can be a little risky. He knows that some players pick a favorite and refuse to play the other character. "It can split our fan base a little," he said, but they are willing to take that risk for a good game.

Good News for Parkour Fans!

If you miss the old days of smooth running and climbing, you are going to love this part.

The developers admitted that parkour hasn't been their main focus in recent games. But that is changing. Simon said they want to "rectify that" (make it right) and push parkour forward. They want movement to matter again, starting right now with Shadows updates and continuing into the next games.

Quick News Bites

Here are a few other things you should know:

  • No Second DLC: Unlike older games, Shadows won't get a second big expansion pack.

  • The Delay: The game was pushed back partly because of fan backlash, but Ubisoft says the game is selling well now.

  • Free Mission: Right now, there is a free Attack on Titan mission available! But hurry—you can only play it until December 22.
