The Cold Snap update for ARC Raiders has introduced a massive surge in loot, though some of it appears to be unintentional. While the update officially boosted blueprint spawn rates in underrepresented areas, the community is reporting that the increase is currently "broken," with players extracting with record numbers of rare items.
Flickering Flames Event & Candleberry Banquet Rewards
The Flickering Flames event (live until January 13, 2026) features a 25-level reward track progressed by earning Merits. Merits are converted from XP (10 Merit per 1,000 XP) and earned through the Candleberry Banquet Project.
Event Reward Track Highlights
Level 1: Hi-Tech Hiker Outfit
Level 5: Check Compass Emote
Level 12: Sprayed Eyes Red Face Style
Level 25 (Final): Space Wrench Raider Tool
Recurring Rewards: Large bundles of Candleberries, Raider Tokens (premium currency), and various Hi-Tech Hiker customization variants (Scanner, Mask, Headgear, and various color camos).
Candleberry Banquet Project Rewards
By completing all five stages of the community-style project (donating items like Candleberries, Film Reels, and Water Filters), players unlock:
Snowglobe Backpack Charm
Bettina III (High-tier weapon)
Extended Barrel & Kinetic Converter attachments
Large bonuses of Merits to accelerate the main event track.
"Broken" Blueprint Spawn Rates
Since the December 16 update, the community has observed an extreme spike in blueprint drops. While Embark Studios intended to "improve availability," the current state has been described by players as "over the top."
Massive Extractions: Players are reporting raids where they find up to eight Blueprints in a single run.
Rare Drops: The Aphelion, currently the rarest weapon in the game, is being found much more frequently in the Stella Montis map following its drop location move from the Matriarch.
Impact on Expedition: The high drop rate has caused some players to reconsider the upcoming Expedition reset (Dec 22). With Blueprints so easy to find, the "risk" of resetting character progress feels significantly lower, though others argue the ease of loot makes the reset's unique rewards less enticing.
Skill Tree Reset: A New Game-Changer
Update 1.7.0 also introduced the ability to reset the Skill Tree using Coins (2,000 per point). Previously, a full specialized rebuild was difficult without the permanent Skill Points granted by the Expedition. This change allows for greater flexibility without forcing a character reset, though you still need to complete an Expedition to reach the absolute maximum point cap.
Embark Studios is currently monitoring "critical issues" but is shifting to a Tuesday update schedule as they begin a holiday break. It remains to be seen if a hotfix will scale back the current blueprint "gold mine" before January.
