Rumor: Battlefield 6 May Be Getting 9 New Game Modes

It looks like Battlefield 6 could be expanding in a big way. Dataminers have reportedly uncovered nine new game modes hidden in the shooter’s files, hinting at a major wave of upcoming content for EA’s latest entry in the long-running FPS franchise. While nothing’s been officially confirmed, the discovery lines up with EA’s earlier promise that Battlefield 6 would become its “biggest and best” Battlefield yet — one that evolves over time through consistent updates.

Battlefield 6’s Early Rollercoaster Ride

It’s been a busy first month for Battlefield 6. The game launched to massive numbers, but it hasn’t been without its share of challenges. From balance tweaks to bug fixes, EA and Battlefield Studios have been rolling out patches rapidly in response to community feedback. Even though the game recently lost its top spot in Steam’s concurrent player charts, engagement remains strong — and if these leaks are accurate, even more players could soon be jumping back in.

Dataminers Reveal 9 Upcoming Modes

According to a report from Insider Gaming, dataminers found references to nine unannounced game modes in Battlefield 6’s code. Earlier leaks before Season One revealed six hidden modes, two of which — Sabotage and Strikepoint — were later confirmed and added to the game. That left four still unaccounted for: Raid, Payload, Squad Shootout, and Tank Hunt.

Now, five more have surfaced: Convoy, Fantastic Four, Gunmaster, Touchdown, and Tug of War. These, combined with the previous four, bring the total number of unused or unreleased game modes up to nine.

All five of the new discoveries are labeled as “prototypes” in the files, meaning they’re likely still early in development and may not appear in-game for quite a while. EA doesn’t seem to be in a rush either — Battlefield 6 already offers 11 multiplayer modes, with more, like Sabotage and Ice Lock, still waiting in the pipeline for release later this season.

What the New Modes Might Be

While EA hasn’t officially described any of these new modes, their names might give away some clues.

  • Gunmaster could be Battlefield’s take on Call of Duty’s Gun Game or Valorant’s Escalation, where players progress through a series of weapons with each kill.

  • Tug of War might feature a push-and-pull control system, with teams fighting for territory or completing alternating objectives.

  • Convoy and Payload could involve escort-style missions, while Squad Shootout might lean into smaller, more tactical team battles.

Since none of these are part of the current Season One roadmap, it’s safe to assume that new modes like these won’t arrive until sometime in 2026.

What This Means for Battlefield 6

If these leaks hold up, Battlefield 6 could soon have one of the largest multiplayer lineups in the franchise’s history. With nine new game modes in development — even if some remain experimental — EA appears committed to keeping the game fresh and evolving for years to come.

For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation, but given Battlefield’s history of mid-season surprises, it wouldn’t be shocking if the first of these modes shows up sooner than expected.
