PlayStation Unveils Its Own Gaming Monitor Built for PS5

Sony is expanding the PlayStation ecosystem once again, this time into the gaming monitor space. During its latest State of Play Japan broadcast, Sony officially announced a new 27-inch PlayStation gaming monitor, designed specifically with the PlayStation 5 in mind. The reveal came near the end of the 40-minute showcase, which was packed with exciting news for PS5 and PS4 owners alike.

The event itself focused on upcoming games from Japanese and Asian studios like Arc System Works, Bandai Namco, and Koei Tecmo. Among the biggest announcements were the reveal of Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC, new closed beta dates for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, and confirmation that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will launch on March 12, 2026. But tucked among those announcements was something unexpected — PlayStation’s very own display.

A Monitor Made Just for PlayStation 5

The new PlayStation 27-inch gaming monitor was built with PS5 users in mind and comes with several unique features that integrate directly with Sony’s console. One of the most interesting touches is a built-in DualSense charging hook located on the back of the display. This small but clever addition can hold and charge both the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, and it can be rotated or tucked away when not in use.

The display itself uses a Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS panel with a resolution of up to 2560 x 1440, offering sharp visuals and accurate color. It supports Auto HDR Tone Mapping, meaning HDR settings are automatically adjusted when starting a game on the PS5 or PS5 Pro. The monitor also boasts a 240Hz refresh rate and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support, though some of these features depend on the hardware and the specific game. For example, the base PS5 model caps out at 120Hz, even with this display.

Connectivity and Features

On the back of the monitor, users will find a solid selection of ports, including two HDMI 2.1 inputs, both supporting 1440p at 240Hz with FRL and VRR. There’s also a DisplayPort input that supports the same resolution and refresh rate with DSC. In addition, the monitor includes two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port, built-in stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm audio jack for wired headsets or external audio setups.

Launch and Pricing Details

According to the PlayStation Blog, the new monitor is scheduled to launch in 2026 across the United States and Japan. Sony hasn’t revealed the official price yet, but based on similar products, fans can expect a wide range. Comparable models like the Samsung Odyssey G6 retail around $300–400, while high-end versions with OLED panels often fall between $500–700. Until Sony confirms an official price tag, fans will have to wait and see where this premium PS5-focused monitor lands.

With features designed specifically for PlayStation consoles, a sleek design, and a few thoughtful touches like the DualSense charging hook, Sony’s upcoming gaming monitor could easily become a must-have accessory for PS5 players looking to level up their setup.
