Dispatch Dev Says They Didn’t Play Favorites Between Invisigal And Blonde Blazer

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

If you’ve been playing Dispatch, you’ll know one thing immediately: the game loves putting you in uncomfortable decision-making territory. From subtle dialogue choices that ripple into later scenes to major branching outcomes that reshape the story entirely, your actions matter.

But let’s be honest — the decision most players agonized over wasn’t tactical or political.

It was romantic.

Choosing between
has quickly become one of the most debated aspects of Dispatch’s first season. And some fans felt like the scales were tipped in one direction.

Did Dispatch Push Players Toward Invisigal?

A noticeable chunk of the community has pointed out that Invisigal seems easier to romance, even if that wasn’t the player’s intention. More shared scenes, more emotional beats, more visible vulnerability it can feel like the game naturally funnels you toward her.

So… was there bias?

According to AdHoc co-founder Nick Herman, absolutely not.

“We Didn’t Elevate One Over The Other”

Speaking to Mothership (via Kotaku), Herman explained that Invisigal’s increased screen time simply comes from narrative logic.

She works directly with Robert. Blonde Blazer, meanwhile, is his supervisor. Naturally, you’re going to see more of the teammate you’re in the trenches with than the boss you report to.

That’s not favoritism — it’s structure.

Herman specifically addressed the party scene where either Invisigal or Blonde Blazer dances with Robert. That moment sparked debate because Invisigal’s emotional reaction feels much more intense and expressive.

But Herman says that’s about character authenticity, not developer preference.

“Invisigal is someone who, if she saw someone she was pining after dancing with someone else, she would be upset and you’d see it on her face,” he said. “Blonde Blazer… has kind of already made peace with how things are going.”

In other words, the contrast isn’t bias — it’s personality.

No “Secondary Protagonist” Agenda

Some players also speculated that Invisigal was being positioned as a de facto co-lead. Herman shut that down too.

“There was no plan to make Invisigal a secondary protagonist. In Season One, the story is really about Robert seeking his own redemption.”

And yes — the phrase “Season One” caught people’s attention. But as of now, there’s no confirmation of a second season of Dispatch.

Final Thoughts

Romance paths in narrative games will always feel personal — especially when one character resonates more strongly than another. But according to the devs, Dispatch’s branching isn’t about pushing a favorite.

It’s about staying true to who these characters are.
