Hey, Daily Quest readers.
Earlier this week, an Adam Smasher skin for Fortnite leaked alongside a release date of March 24. That date came and went with zero announcement. Now fans are left scratching their heads wondering what happened — and more importantly, why Epic chose Adam Smasher of all characters for the second Cyberpunk 2077 crossover.
The first wave gave us fem V and Johnny Silverhand. Cool picks. But Smasher? Really?
Fans Are Mourning Better Character Choices
While we wait to see if Smasher will ever show up, the community is busy listing all the characters they'd actually want instead:
- Male V — The biggest complaint from the first wave was leaving out the male version of the protagonist
- Panam — One of the most beloved romance options in CP2077
- Judy — Another fan-favorite romance who absolutely deserves a spot
- Jackie Welles — V's best friend and emotional anchor of the early game
- Rogue — A legendary fixer with deep ties to Johnny's past
Basically, nobody is hyped for Smasher when these characters exist. Sure, his render looks cool, but he's a villain with minimal screen time compared to the emotional weight these other characters carry.
What About Edgerunners?
Another glaring omission? Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The anime was a cultural phenomenon, and characters like David Martinez or Rebecca would be instant hits in Fortnite. That said, we're more likely to see Edgerunners content closer to Season 2 of the show — which still doesn't even have a trailer yet.
Did The Collab Get Scrapped?
Some fans are wondering if the entire crossover was quietly canceled. Epic just laid off 1,000 workers, and between that and the ongoing backlash over V-Bucks price hikes, things are messy behind the scenes.
But let's be real — Epic wouldn't care about the hypocrisy. Johnny Silverhand would've hated being in Fortnite, yet here we are. We live in a world where Prime Video hosts a Fallout show. Corpos have no shame.
Final Thoughts
Whether Smasher shows up or not, the fact remains: fans wanted better. Male V, Panam, Judy — literally anyone but the big chrome villain would've been a more exciting pick.
