The Director Says Screenshots Were Edited
As spotted by Kotaku, Nakanishi recently posted an Instagram story saying that fan messages "warm [his] heart", but also noted that he's been "called out for screenshots of edited messages" and is now going into "hermit mode."
He didn't explicitly mention the marriage debate, but let's be real — what else would it be about right now?
This doesn't confirm that the Ada messages were fake, but it definitely reopens the case. And that means the shippers are back in business.
Claire Fans Are Sensing Opportunity
With the Ada "confirmation" suddenly looking shaky, Claire Redfield shippers are stepping back into the spotlight. Their argument? Claire is simply a better match for Leon.

- Their dynamic is far less chaotic than Leon and Ada's
And honestly, calling Leon and Ada toxic isn't exactly unfair.

I still think Ada Wong is the most likely answer, but Nakanishi's comments have definitely cracked the door back open. And for Resident Evil fans, that's more than enough fuel to keep this debate raging.
