Hey, Daily Quest readers.
Spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem follow.
You know you've messed up when the credits roll and the game literally asks if you want to try again. That's exactly what happens in Resident Evil Requiem if you choose to destroy Elpis — and considering that choice ends with Zeno putting a bullet between Leon Kennedy's eyes, it's not hard to see why.
There's no way Capcom is killing off their star rookie for real. We'll be roundhouse kicking infected as a 70-year-old Leon all the way through Resident Evil 16, mark my words.
And yet, according to official Capcom stats, 56 percent of players destroyed Elpis on their first playthrough. Only 44 percent released it and cured Leon. Yikes.
Most Of Us Chose... Poorly
I'm assuming most players went back to fix that mistake, because choosing to destroy Elpis means you miss out on:
- The final boss fight against Victor Gideon in his terrifying Nemesis form
- The actual ending where Chris Redfield's team swoops in to save the day
- The post-credits scene teasing future content
What a disappointing way to cap off your first Requiem run.
Yes, I chose the bad ending too. I was curious! Don't judge me.
The Community Stats Are Wild
Let's move past that embarrassing statistic — Capcom dropped a ton of other data worth digging into.
Here's what the Requiem community has accomplished in just one week:
| Stat | Number |
|---|---|
| Total completions | 6.3 million |
| First completion time (with cutscenes/restarts) | 16 hours, 48 minutes |
| Total playtime (community-wide) | 8,842 years |
| Total kills | 2.8 billion |
| Total deaths | 120 million |
| Items crafted | 929 million |
| Blood collected | 15 million liters |
| Ink ribbons used | 38 million |
| Severed hands analyzed | 1 million+ |
| Wesker's "rookie" photo found | 1.2 million |
| Rocket launcher kills | 39 million |
| Chainsaw kills (Leon) | 86 million |
| Requiem weapon kills | 269 million |
That last one is impressive — the titular Requiem weapon has racked up over 269 million kills, absolutely demolishing the rocket launcher and chainsaw combined.
Final Thoughts
Whether you got the good ending or the bad one, Requiem's first week has been absolutely massive. The community stats prove just how obsessed players are with Capcom's latest survival-horror masterpiece.
