Hey, Daily Quest readers.
Bandai Namco just unleashed the first teaser for Dragon Ball Game Project: Age 1000 during today's Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event—and it is the 40th-anniversary bombshell we’ve been waiting for. Set for a 2027 release, this project is being hailed as Akira Toriyama’s final creative gift to the franchise.
The teaser trailer introduces a brand-new protagonist, a silver-haired teenager sporting a Capsule Corp tunic, who officially becomes a Super Saiyan by the end of the clip. With a Goku silhouette flashing behind him, the "descendant" theories are already catching fire!
Genkidamatsuri Teaser: A Glimpse into the Far Future
Live from Japan, producers Akio Iyoku and Masayuki Hirano revealed that Age 1000 has been in development for six to seven years. Crucially, the late Akira Toriyama was "heavily involved," providing the original story bible, the world-building, and the designs for the new lead character and several unannounced allies.
The trailer showcases a futuristic world that feels more expansive than any DB world we’ve seen before. Iyoku teased that this game will pack in "more elements and settings than any other Dragon Ball game in history."
Re-Canonizing Dragon Ball Online?
The title "Age 1000" is a massive clue for lore hunters. In the official timeline, the Dragon Ball Z era ends around Age 784. "Age 1000" is exactly where the fabled (and mostly defunct) Dragon Ball Online MMO was set—216 years after the main story.
This era is famous for Time Patrol recruitment, the rise of the Majin race on Earth, and Future Trunks' efforts to protect history. Fans are already speculating that Age 1000 could be:
Xenoverse 3: Integrating the Age 1000 setting as the main hub.
A Kakarot-style RPG: Following a new "Goku descendant" in a fully explorable open world.
A Spiritual Successor to DBO: Finally bringing Toriyama’s vision of a futuristic Earth to global consoles.
