Fortnite x South Park: "Born in Chaos" Update is Live!

As of January 9, 2026, the most anticipated crossover of the year has officially landed. Following the massive success of The Simpsons mini-season in late 2025, Epic Games has launched Update 39.20, bringing the town of South Park to the Island.

The event, titled "Born in Chaos," introduces revolutionary gameplay mechanics and a new POI that literally reshapes the map.

 

 

The Stick of Truth: A Literal Game-Changer

The headline of this update is the Stick of Truth Mythic. For the first time in Fortnite history, a player can control the most fundamental element of the game: The Storm.

• Location: You can find the Stick on a pedestal in the center of the new Cartmanland POI (which has replaced Wonkeeland).

• Power: Upon activation, the screen zooms out to a tactical map, allowing you to choose exactly where the next storm circle will close. * Tactical Edge: You can force opponents out of high-ground cover or trap them deep in the "storm sickness" zone. It is a one-time-use item per match, making it the most contested item on the map.

 

New "Born in Chaos" Gameplay Items

Item	Rarity	Effect
Kenny’s Respawn Token	Mythic	A "get out of jail free" card. If you are eliminated while holding this, you automatically reboot in the air above your death location. (Only available in Unranked lobbies).
Cheesy Poofs	Rare	A versatile consumable that heals health and shields. Unlike other heals, you can eat these while sprinting. They can also be thrown at enemies to deal minor "stink" damage.
Stealth Splash	Epic	Similar to Chug Splashes, but grants a temporary Cloak effect to everyone in the radius.

 

 

Skins & The "Born in Chaos" Mini-Pass

To maintain hitbox consistency, the South Park kids arrive in Mech Suits (similar to the Bart Simpson and Morty skins).

• The Item Shop: The "Gonna Have Myself A Time" Bundle (4,000 V-Bucks) includes Cartman (AWESOM-O mech), Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Butters (Professor Chaos mech).

• The Free Pass: The Born in Chaos Mini-Pass is 100% free. By completing quests and earning "CRED," you can unlock 13 rewards, including:

  • Backpack of CRED (Back Bling)

  • Terrance and Phillip (Pickaxe)

  • Cheesy Poofs Rocketship (Emote)

  • Imaginationland Airship (Glider - awarded for collecting 6 Memberberries).

New Mode: Quints (5-Player Squads)

For the duration of the event (until February 5, 2026), Epic has introduced Quints. In the "Born in Chaos" animated short, Butters uses the Stick of Truth to force the game to allow a 5th player so he won't be left out of the group—and this translates to a dedicated 5-person squad playlist in-game.
