Hey, Daily Quest readers.
AVAST, PIRATES—FLAGS UP! After years of playing coy, Ubisoft has finally broken its silence. On January 28, 2026, the official Assassin’s Creed X account replied to a leak of a brand-new Edward Kenway collectible statue with the iconic GTA San Andreas meme: "Ah s**, here we go again."*
It’s a cheeky nod that confirms what we’ve all known: the Jackdaw is coming back. But while the hype is high, the development seas are currently looking a bit choppy.
The "Resynced" Leak Timeline
The evidence for this remake (not just a remaster!) has been stacking up like plunder in a cargo hold:
The Name: A PEGI rating briefly surfaced in December 2025 for "Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag: Resynced," rated 18+.
The Domain: Ubisoft’s preferred registrar, GANDI SAS, recently locked down
assassinscreedblackflagresynced.com.The Statue: A 35cm high-end Edward Kenway figure by PureArts (dated with a 2026 copyright) was spotted on the resale app Vinted, which is what finally triggered Ubisoft’s meme response.
The Music: Ubisoft Music "accidentally" reuploaded 18 tracks from the original 2013 soundtrack earlier this month, citing "technical issues."
The Delay: From March 2026 to "FY2027"
According to insider Tom Henderson, the original plan was for Black Flag Resynced to go gold the first week of February and launch on March 19, 2026. However, Ubisoft is currently undergoing a massive "portfolio reset."
The Reset: Ubisoft recently canceled six projects (including the long-troubled Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake) and delayed seven others.
New Window: Resynced has reportedly been pushed into Fiscal Year 2027. This means the absolute earliest we will see Edward again is April 2026, but most analysts are now betting on a late 2026 or early 2027 release to ensure the "enhanced quality benchmarks" are met.
What to Expect in the Remake
Leaks suggest this is a "ground-up" rebuild using the modern Anvil engine (seen in Mirage and Shadows):
No Modern Day: Rumors suggest the Abstergo office segments are being cut in favor of more Edward story content.
Seamless Transitions: No loading screens when moving from your ship to land.
UE5 Visuals? While it uses Anvil, expect ray-traced water and 4K 60 FPS naval combat that will make the original look like a rowboat.
The Current Status of the Fleet
| Feature | Status | The Hype Factor |
| Official Reveal | Pending | Expected via "State of Play" or Ubisoft Forward soon. |
| Release Date | Delayed | Now targeting April 2026 – March 2027. |
| Platforms | Leaked | PS5, Xbox Series X |
| Collector's Edition | Confirmed | That Edward statue is basically a lock. |
My Hot Take: The delay is actually a blessing. After the Prince of Persia cancellation, Ubisoft knows they cannot afford to mess up their most beloved pirate adventure. I’d rather wait another year for a bug-free Caribbean than sail into a glitched-out storm.
Are you ready to sail the Jackdaw again, or has the wait for Skull and Bones soured your pirate dreams? Drop your favorite sea shanty in the comments—I'm already humming Leave Her Johnny!
Share this with your crew, and stay locked for the official trailer (hopefully) later this year.
Stay questing! @TheDailyQuest0
