God of War TV Show Leak Suggests Possible Actors for Baldur and Thor

A new leak claims to reveal who may portray two major antagonists in Amazon’s upcoming God of War television adaptation. While fans still wait for the official announcements regarding Kratos and Atreus, insider Daniel Richtman has shared that Max Parker and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson are reportedly in talks to play Baldur and Thor, respectively.

Max Parker Rumored as Baldur

Max Parker, known for roles in Doctor Who, Vampire Academy, and the breakout series Boots, is rumored to play Baldur.

At 33, Parker brings the right mix of physicality and presence, with some strong visual similarities to Santa Monica Studio’s version of the unfeeling Norse god. His athletic build suggests he could deliver the kind of intense, kinetic combat performance fans expect from Baldur’s iconic early-game battle with Kratos.

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson Rumored as Thor

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, known for his standout performance in the acclaimed series Severance as well as award-winning roles in The Deep and The Minister, is reportedly being considered for Thor.

At 6'2" with a build and reddish beard close to the game’s character design, Olafsson already looks the part. Fans online have also praised his deep, resonant voice, which many believe would fit perfectly for the imposing god of thunder.

Official Casting News May Arrive in Early 2026

These casting reports remain unconfirmed. Even if accurate, Richtman notes the actors are only in talks, meaning negotiations may still fall through or Amazon may pivot to other choices. Still, early fan reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, especially regarding Olafsson as Thor.

Production on the series is scheduled to begin in March 2026, so early 2026 is a reasonable expectation for the first official casting announcements. Given the heavy visual-effects demands of a God of War adaptation, the first season will most likely debut sometime in 2027.

What the Casting Leak Suggests About the Show’s Story

One intriguing implication of the leak is Thor’s presence in Season 1. In God of War (2018), Thor appears only in the end-credits scene, but the show may expand his role significantly. This could allow the first season to:

  • Explore the inner dynamics of the Aesir

  • Show Thor interacting with Baldur and his sons

  • Depict backstory elements only referenced in the games, such as Thor’s past confrontation with Faye

Amazon has ordered two seasons of God of War. It’s unclear whether both will adapt the 2018 game or if Season 2 will shift to Ragnarok. Many fans hope Ragnarok receives at least two seasons of its own due to its scale.

A Potentially Expanded Narrative

Some series purists may worry that additional focus on side characters could overshadow Kratos and Atreus. However, an expanded narrative—something TV adaptations often require—could enrich the world-building and give more depth to Norse mythology’s key figures.

For now, fans can only wait to see whether these rumored castings come to pass and whether Amazon can follow up the massive success of its Fallout adaptation with another faithful, compelling video-game series.
