Ghost of Yotei Gets New Update That Should Make New Game Plus a Lot Smoother

A new update for Ghost of Yotei has rolled out, addressing several issues that surfaced after the addition of New Game Plus mode. While not a massive patch, it targets multiple quirks and bugs that players—especially those diving into NG+—have found disruptive.

First released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 2, Sucker Punch Productions’ sequel to Ghost of Tsushima has quickly become one of the year’s standout action-adventure titles. Selling over 2 million units within its first three days, the game has also received glowing acclaim, including an OpenCritic player rating of 90 and Golden Joystick Awards for Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year. With seven nominations at The Game Awards 2025, including Best Performance for Erika Ishii’s portrayal of Atsu, its momentum shows no signs of slowing down.

Less than two weeks ago, Sucker Punch launched the game’s 1.000 update, introducing the highly anticipated New Game Plus mode. This new feature lets players continue Atsu’s journey with her upgraded abilities intact, but it also introduced some unintended issues. Today’s follow-up patch resolves four key gameplay problems, including multiple NG+-related bugs and some uncommon soft-locking scenarios. Additionally, the team has implemented fixes for issues involving the New Game Plus vendor.

One of the more noticeable bugs affected the Bamboo Strike locations in NG+. Typically, completing these minigame challenges rewards Atsu with increases to her Spirit. However, after the last update, their counters began displaying bizarre negative numbers. This has now been corrected.

A rarer but more frustrating issue involved the Platinum Armor Dye, which some players failed to receive even after earning the game’s platinum trophy. The bug primarily affected users who achieved the trophy across multiple save files, but this too has now been fixed. Beyond gameplay issues, the update also includes additional crash-related stability improvements.

As Sucker Punch smooths out the early growing pains of New Game Plus, even more content is on the way. A Legends co-op mode—mirroring Ghost of Tsushima’s popular multiplayer component—is slated for 2026 as a free DLC add-on. Although it does not yet have a release date, players can expect cooperative adventures to expand Ghost of Yotei’s world in the near future.
