Embark has officially unveiled the full details for the ARC Raiders Winter Event, launching shortly after teasing the community about its December Update. The event introduces a dangerous new map condition, a fresh community event, and multiple opportunities for players to earn free rewards. Since its launch on October 30, ARC Raiders has maintained a dedicated player base, largely due to its strong gameplay foundation and consistent updates.
Deadly New Condition: Cold Snap
Starting on December 16, the winter season will bring the new Cold Snap map condition to various locations across ARC Raiders. This condition blankets the impacted map in freezing temperatures and snow, significantly reducing player visibility.
The cold weather introduces the risk of frostbite, which can quickly become lethal. Embark warns that if left untreated, frostbite can "cut your Raider down in minutes." To survive, players must quickly seek indoor shelter or continuously heal. This dynamic change is expected to drastically alter player behavior, punishing those who stay outdoors for too long, camp, or engage in lengthy open-air firefights.
Community Event & Free Rewards
Alongside the deadly Cold Snap, the Flickering Flames community event is also set to begin. Following the successful format of the Stella Montis event, Flickering Flames tasks players with donating items related to light and heat, and collecting a new resource called the Candleberry Bush. Donating these items will be rewarded, allowing players to redeem Merits for a variety of prizes.

For all players, the Winter Update also introduces a free Raider Deck filled with items, resources, and gear to unlock, including the new Goalie outfit. New Instrument: The Guitar
Adding to the game's emergent and creative nature, Embark is introducing a new in-game item: a guitar. Following the popularity of the flute for non-verbal communication, the guitar will likely be obtainable through the new Raider Deck. This new instrument is sure to lead to interesting player encounters, potentially sparking new community trends like roving mariachi bands.
