Ubisoft is releasing Title Update 1.1.7 for Assassin's Creed Shadows, with the primary highlights being the addition of new, highly brutal finisher animations for Naoe and Yasuke, as well as significant performance and visual improvements for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. The update is scheduled to start rolling out on December 16.
Key Additions and Combat Flair
The core focus of the patch is enhancing the combat experience.
New Finisher Animations: The patch notes confirm the community feedback has been heard, introducing a new set of finishers that "bring more flair to your encounters." These maneuvers are described as having "more cinematic flair and brutality," including grisly actions like twisting the sword in a foe, elbowing them, and delivering a final head stab.
Animus Rift: Lost and Found: A mysterious new Rift is being added to the Animus, offering secrets and puzzles for players to uncover.
New Project: Defiance: A new Project is available in the Animus HUB, allowing players to unlock a new Bo staff, a Trinket, and other rewards by completing Anomalies.
Vault Access: Quick access to the Vault has been added to the Animus menu during gameplay.
New Resources in the Exchange: Gold, Mastery, and Knowledge Points are now available as repeatedly purchasable daily offers using Keys.
Nintendo Switch 2 Improvements
While the update begins arriving on December 16 for most platforms, the Switch 2 version will receive the patch a day later, on December 17.
The update addresses several issues specific to the Switch 2:
Improved various FPS issues and fixed crashes.
Fixed various visual issues.
Improved the touchscreen experience.
Fixed issues related to controller connection prompts when docking/undocking and infinite black screens during Ubisoft Connect login.
General Bug Fixes and Quality-of-Life
The update includes extensive fixes across gameplay, the game world, and quests:
Gameplay Fixes: Removed an exploit allowing double engravings on the Sword of Fathoms, fixed issues preventing Naginatas from being sold, corrected problems with Mastery point perks not updating, and ensured shared skills between Naoe and Yasuke are correctly learned by both.
World Improvements: Players can now whistle while using the Follow Road mechanic. Corrupted Castles will no longer reset when loading a previous save after a season change.
PC Specific: Fixed input rebinding issues for Mouse and Keyboard and improved FPS stability.
Quest Fixes: Resolved multiple issues preventing the completion of specific quests, such as "Swords And Sake," "Eliminate Outlaws," and "Temple Stories."
