Rumor Alert: Could GTA 6 Be Coming to Switch 2?

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans may have a new reason to get excited—or at least curious. Rumors are swirling that Rockstar Games could be exploring a potential port of GTA 6 for Nintendo's next-gen console, the Switch 2. While the blockbuster open-world title is officially slated for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release in November 2026, leaks from industry insiders suggest the iconic franchise might not be staying strictly on Sony and Microsoft platforms.

Rockstar’s Current Plans and the Delay

The GTA 6 release schedule recently hit turbulence. Rockstar announced on November 6 that the game would miss its initial May 2026 window, pushing the launch to November 19, 2026. According to the studio, the extra six months are intended to give developers more time to polish the game and meet fan expectations. The delay also had immediate financial consequences for Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, whose stock dipped sharply after the announcement.

Insider Leaks Hint at Switch 2 Tests

Despite the delay, leakers NashWeedle and NateTheHate recently shared on Twitter that Rockstar may be testing GTA 6 on the Switch 2. While neither confirmed a final release, these early tests reportedly had nothing to do with the pushback to November 2026. If a Switch 2 version does eventually happen, NashWeedle noted it would not launch alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions.

Switch 2: A Console Ready for Rockstar?

The Switch 2 promises impressive hardware upgrades, including 4K resolution at 60 frames per second in docked mode and support for Nvidia DLSS upscaling. These capabilities have already proven that graphically demanding titles, like Cyberpunk 2077, can run smoothly on the console—suggesting that GTA 6 could potentially translate well to the platform.

Managing Expectations

It’s important for fans to stay realistic. NateTheHate emphasized that testing doesn’t guarantee a successful port. Rockstar has already enlisted Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games to bring Red Dead Redemption to Switch 2, but GTA 6’s fate on Nintendo’s next-gen console remains unconfirmed.

For now, GTA enthusiasts can only speculate while keeping a close eye on Rockstar’s next announcements. If this rumor proves true, a Switch 2 version could add a whole new dimension to exploring the streets of Vice City.
