Kadokawa Confirms Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC Coming by March 2026

Fans of Elden Ring: Nightreign have plenty to look forward to. During its latest earnings report, Kadokawa revealed new details about the game’s strong performance and confirmed that the highly anticipated premium DLC is currently in development, with a release expected before the end of the 2025 fiscal year—meaning it should arrive by March 2026.

The news comes as Nightreign continues to build momentum since its launch earlier this year, with consistent updates and new content helping to keep players engaged.

Nightreign’s Unique Spin on the Elden Ring Formula

When Elden Ring: Nightreign launched in May 2025, it took fans by surprise. Instead of sticking to the traditional open-world action RPG formula, developer FromSoftware introduced roguelike elements, allowing up to three players to team up and explore a procedurally evolving world.

The challenge? Survive three in-game days and defeat the final boss before time runs out. The shift in gameplay added a new layer of strategy and replayability to the Elden Ring universe, giving fans something fresh while maintaining the series’ trademark intensity and atmosphere.

FromSoftware’s Continued Support and Player Feedback

Since release, Nightreign has seen a steady stream of updates aimed at improving gameplay and adding new features. FromSoftware responded to community feedback with the introduction of Duo Expeditions mode, which rebalances the game for two-player teams instead of the usual three.

The studio has also introduced special limited-time events to keep the experience fresh. One of the most notable updates came in September, when the Deep of Night mode was added. This mode increases difficulty by introducing randomized Nightlords and more valuable loot, appealing to players looking for a greater challenge.

Later patches added new customization options, including the ability to adjust dungeon depth and safeguards to prevent rank loss after defeat, making experimentation and creative builds far more accessible.

Kadokawa Praises Nightreign’s Performance

During the financial report covering the six months ending September 30, 2025, Kadokawa described Elden Ring: Nightreign as a major success. The company didn’t share specific sales figures but said the game had “performed well beyond initial expectations.”

Kadokawa also reiterated its plans to expand the Elden Ring brand, with Nightreign’s success helping pave the way for new projects. The upcoming Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 was mentioned as part of this broader strategy.

DLC Development and Future Plans

Kadokawa confirmed that FromSoftware is actively developing the Nightreign premium DLC, alongside its next title, The Duskbloods, for Nintendo Switch 2. While no details were shared about the expansion’s story or content, the report clearly states the DLC will release by March 2026.

In the meantime, FromSoftware appears committed to keeping Nightreign evolving through seasonal updates and in-game events. With new gameplay tweaks and world expansions still arriving, players have plenty to do while waiting for the next big chapter in the Elden Ring saga.

As the game continues to grow and refine its ambitious roguelike systems, Elden Ring: Nightreign shows no signs of slowing down—and the upcoming DLC could be the studio’s next big step forward.
