Big news—or maybe just big rumors: Grand Theft Auto 6 might be delayed again.
The game is already set to launch on May 26, 2026, after being pushed back from its original 2025 date. But now, some insiders are saying that even that date might not hold.
What’s the Latest?
Reece Reilly, host of the popular Kiwi Talkz podcast, recently replied to a fan on Twitter saying he’s heard “conflicting reports” from developers at different Rockstar studios—including those in Bangalore, Edinburgh, and San Diego.
He didn’t say the game will be delayed—but he did say there’s no clear agreement inside Rockstar about whether May 2026 is realistic.
“It sounds like they’re trying to hit it… but it could be delayed again,” Reilly wrote.
Why Would It Be Delayed?
A few reasons:
-
The game is huge—and still needs massive testing to avoid another Cyberpunk 2077-style launch (remember how buggy that was?)
-
Rockstar recently let go of dozens of staff members, which could slow things down
-
Some devs reportedly think the current deadline is too tight
Reilly believes the game is likely close to finished, but the final polish and bug-fixing phase might take longer than expected.
What Does Rockstar Say?
Nothing official. Their website still says:
“COMING MAY 26, 2026”
And as one fan pointed out, Rockstar’s homepage recently got a redesign—not because they removed the date, but to make room for big news posters. So the date is still there… for now.
Should You Believe the Rumors?
Take them with a grain of salt.
Rockstar is famously quiet during development—and leaks often come from people who aren’t directly involved. That said, if multiple insiders are whispering “maybe not May,” it’s worth paying attention.
One Thing Is Certain
GTA 6 has been in development for over 10 years—longer than any other Rockstar game. When it finally arrives, it’ll be huge. And Rockstar will want it to be perfect.
So if it gets delayed again? Don’t be surprised. Better late than broken.
