GTA 6 Is Coming… But So Is Drama at Rockstar Games

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is already intense. Every rumor, every screenshot, every tiny hint sends fans into a frenzy.

But lately, the buzz isn’t just about the game—it’s about what’s happening inside Rockstar Games.

This week, protests, layoffs, and big accusations made headlines. So… what’s really going on?

30–40 Developers Were Let Go

Earlier this week, Rockstar Games fired around 30 to 40 developers—many of them working on GTA 6. That’s a lot of people at a time when the game is almost finished.

Rockstar says the reason was simple:

“They shared confidential information in public spaces—breaking company rules.”

In other words: someone leaked (or almost leaked) secrets about GTA 6, and the company had to act. With millions of fans waiting—and leaks causing huge problems before—Rockstar says protecting the game came first.

But the Fired Staff Tell a Different Story

The developers who lost their jobs—and the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB)—say it’s not about leaks at all. They believe they were fired for trying to form a union and support each other in private chat groups (like Discord).

They argue:
✔ They were just talking among themselves
✔ No game secrets were shared publicly
✔ Management used the “leak” excuse to stop union efforts

On November 3 and 4, former employees held protests outside Rockstar’s office in Edinburgh, Scotland. More protests are planned—including one today, November 6.

So… Who’s Right?

So far, neither side has shared hard proof (like screenshots or emails) in public. That means fans are stuck in the middle—trying to guess what really happened.

  • Rockstar says: “This was about protecting our work—not punishing people for organizing.”

  • The workers and union say: “This was about silencing voices who asked for fair treatment.”

Sound familiar? Sadly, yes. Big game studios often face stress, long hours, and pressure to deliver perfect products. And when fans get too excited—or even aggressive—it can make things worse. (Some content creators have even harassed Rockstar staff, demanding early info about the next trailer!)

Final Thought

As fans, we’re used to waiting for GTA 6. Now, it seems, we’re also watching a real-life drama unfold alongside it.

Which side do you believe?
Let us know—but be kind. Because in the end, everyone just wants the best game possible… and fair treatment for the people who make it.
