Team Cherry Might Be Teasing Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Sea Of Sorrow DLC For This Month

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

If you’ve been anywhere near the Hollow Knight community this week, you’ll know one thing: Silksong fans are spiraling again. But this time, there might actually be something to it.

We already know that Hollow Knight: Silksong is getting its first major DLC, titled Sea of Sorrow, sometime this year. It was revealed shortly after Silksong launched, and since then? Absolute radio silence. Naturally, fans have turned into amateur archaeologists, digging through the game’s files to hunt for unused cutscenes, environmental clues, and anything that might hint at what’s coming next.

But now, a tiny social media interaction has reignited the hype machine.

The Emoji That Launched A Thousand Theories

Last weekend, Matthew Griffin — aka Leth, Team Cherry’s marketing and publishing lead — responded to a fan who jokingly claimed their “sources” said Sea of Sorrow would release this month.

Griffin didn’t deny it.

He didn’t confirm it either.

He simply replied with a monocle face emoji.

That’s it. One emoji. And somehow, that was enough to send the community into full detective mode.

What does the monocle mean? Is it playful suspicion? A “hmm, interesting” tease? Or just a joke? With Team Cherry’s history of minimal communication and sudden announcements, it’s impossible to tell.

But here’s why fans are taking it seriously.

The Timeline Actually Lines Up

The original Hollow Knight received its first DLC just six months after launch, and subsequent expansions followed fairly quickly. The longest gap between DLC releases back then was also around six months.

Silksong launched eight months ago.

That means, based on Team Cherry’s previous pattern, we’re technically overdue.

Given how the studio operates, a shadow drop wouldn’t be surprising at all — especially since the DLC is expected to be free. There’s no marketing runway required. No pre-order campaign. Just a sudden update on a random weekday and chaos in the fandom.

Could It Actually Happen?

With Team Cherry, anything is possible. They’ve announced release dates out of nowhere before, and they clearly enjoy keeping things unpredictable.

Whether that monocle emoji was a deliberate tease or just a playful response, the timing makes this month feel very plausible.

Final Thoughts

Sea of Sorrow could drop tomorrow. Or next week. Or months from now.

But if there’s one thing we know about Team Cherry, it’s this: when they finally speak clearly, it happens fast.
