Hey, Daily Quest readers.
The hunt begins on the big screen. Sony just dropped a massive announcement at CinemaCon 2026: a Bloodborne animated movie is officially in the works, and it's carrying an R-rating. Co-produced by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and none other than YouTube icon JackSepticEye (Seán McLoughlin), this adaptation is shaping up to be one of the most exciting gaming announcements of the year. Here's everything we know and why this could be an absolutely insane adaptation.
Bloodborne Joins A Growing Wave Of FromSoftware Adaptations
This is actually the third FromSoftware game getting the adaptation treatment right now, which is wild to think about.
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting a stylish anime series
- Elden Ring is getting a live-action movie set post-Shattering
- And now Bloodborne is getting an R-rated animated film
FromSoftware's worlds are clearly having a massive moment in Hollywood, and honestly, it makes total sense. The lore, the atmosphere, the brutality — all of it translates beautifully to screen.
Why Animation Is Perfect For Bloodborne
Bloodborne's Victorian-era aesthetic and deep Lovecraftian horror are practically built for animation. The game's nightmare-fueled world — where the moon itself is literally a boss — would be incredibly difficult to pull off convincingly in live-action.
An R-rated animated film gives creators the freedom to go full cosmic horror without the limitations of practical effects or CGI budgets holding them back. This is the right call.
What About A Game Remake?
Of course, whenever Bloodborne trends, fans immediately start asking about a remaster or remake. Sadly, that front remains dark. We recently learned that FromSoftware reportedly turned down a remake offer from Bluepoint Games before the studio shut down. With Bluepoint gone, the chances of a remake feel slimmer than ever.
For now, the animated movie will have to hold us over — and honestly, that might be enough.
