Resident Evil Requiem Modders Have Already Added A Permadeath Mode – And It Works With Every Difficulty

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

Resident Evil Requiem's Insanity difficulty is already borderline cruel. One-shot kills, BSAA zombies with apparent aimbot, and item placements that feel like a Capcom employee is giggling around the corner waiting for you to suffer. But if that somehow isn't enough punishment for you, the modding community has your back.

Enter Ironman Mode — a work of pure sadism from modder silentverge.

What Is Ironman Mode?

The concept is beautifully simple and absolutely terrifying: die once, and your save file gets deleted. Not just your latest save — all save files for that difficulty.

Here's exactly how it works, per the mod description:

"Death permanently auto deletes all save files on your current difficulty type playthrough. So, if you are playing on Standard (Classic) for example, it will delete both autosave files and any other Standard (Classic) manual save files. Same goes for any other difficulty, preserving other difficulties save files."

The mod works on every difficulty, so you can tailor the challenge to your skill level. But let's be real — silentverge knows exactly who this mod is for. As the description puts it:

"Perfect for challenge runs, hardcore players, and streamers looking for the ultimate survival test."

And if you're doing a permadeath run, you have to go Insanity. Anything less just isn't committing to the bit.

Streamers Are Going To Love (And Hate) This

This is absolutely perfect streamer fodder. Just like the endless Soulsborne challenge runs that dominate YouTube and Twitch, it's only a matter of time before someone attempts a full Insanity Ironman run on stream — and the inevitable rage clip goes viral.

Want to make it even worse? You could stack this with the randomizer mod for maximum chaos. Or throw in the 'More Enemies' mod if you genuinely hate yourself.

People have beaten Elden Ring on a dance mat. Someone will attempt this. And we'll all be watching.

A More Reasonable Alternative Exists Too

If permadeath on Insanity sounds like too much (because it absolutely is), modder MightyKusKus has created a more balanced option called "Sanity". This mod replaces the highest difficulty with a more reasonable attempt at a Hardcore mode — something that's oddly missing from Requiem's base game.

It's the perfect middle ground for players who want more challenge than Standard but aren't ready to risk their entire save file on every encounter.

My Take

Ironman Mode on Insanity is genuinely one of the most terrifying gaming challenges I can imagine. Between the one-shot deaths, limited resources, and Requiem's relentless enemy encounters, completing this would be a legitimate badge of honor.

Just be careful during certain scripted sequences — a game over screen counts as death too. One wrong move covering Grace outside the church? Save file gone. Brutal.

Final Thoughts

The Requiem modding community is already delivering incredible content just days after launch. Whether you want ultimate punishment with Ironman Mode or a more balanced challenge with Sanity, there's something for every masochist out there.

Would you attempt an Ironman run on Insanity? Or is that certifiably insane? Drop your thoughts below! Stay questing — and follow @TheDailyQuest0 for more daily gaming quests! 🎮🧟💀
