Grounded 2: Toxic Tangle Live & The 2026 Roadmap Reveal!

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

The wait for more "Brookhollow" content is over! Yesterday, January 27, 2026, Obsidian unleashed the Toxic Tangle update. It’s the first major expansion since Early Access launched last July, and it’s leaning heavily into verticality, corruption, and massive boss energy.

The Toxic Tangle: What’s Lurking in the Garden?

The center of the update is the Community Garden biome. This isn't your average flower bed; it’s a greenhouse-adjacent jungle choked with "The Tang"—a sour, neon-blue corruption that’s warping the local insect life.

  • The Ladybug Buggy: The highlight of the update. It’s a literal biological tank. It features a pressurized water cannon (refillable at any water source) to wash away Tang sludge or blast Wasp Drones out of the sky.

  • Vertical Horrors: Get your climbing gear ready. The greenhouse requires serious vine-scaling to reach the top-shelf carrot jungles and pumpkin patches.

  • The Snake Colossus: It’s exactly what it sounds like. Located near the Croquet Court, this is the largest "Colossus" encounter yet. Pro Tip: Don't even try it without Tier III armor and a fast Buggy for the getaway.

Mutations 2.0: The Loadout Overhaul

Obsidian finally fixed the menu-juggling nightmare. Mutations are now split into Active and Passive categories.

  • Active: Traditional slots you manually equip.

  • Passive: These now apply automatically based on your equipped weapon. If you swap to a sword, your sword-mastery passives kick in instantly. This is a massive QoL win for mid-combat versatility.

New Building Kits: For the Backyard Architects

The builder community won big this time. The update adds the Pumpkin Set, a refreshed Mushroom Kit, and the long-requested Floor Hatches. You can finally build vertical bases with internal ladder access that keeps the Earwigs out!

My Hot Take: The Snake is Just the Start

The Snake Colossus is incredible, but the mention of a "Watery Biome" in the summer roadmap has me thinking of a "Subnautica-lite" experience in the park pond. With water-based vehicles confirmed, we might finally be getting the "Diving Bell" buggy we’ve dreamed of.

Are you ready to face the Colossus, or are you too busy building your new Pumpkin Fortress? Let me know in the comments—and tell me if that Ladybug water cannon is as OP as it looks!

Share this with your survival squad, and stay locked for the Spring Anthill teaser.

Stay questing!
