Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

Hey, Daily Quest readers.

MUSOU MODE: POSTPONED! Koei Tecmo just dropped a heavy hammer on the front lines. Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, originally scheduled to storm onto consoles on March 19, 2026, has been delayed indefinitely.

As of January 26, 2026, the official release date has been pulled from all platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and both Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.

Why the Delay? A Message from the Producer

Producer Tomohiko Sho (the mind behind DW: Origins) issued a statement explaining that the team needs "a little more time" to meet the high expectations of the fanbase.

"As the first remaster of the Dynasty Warriors series, in order to fully satisfy our fans, we have made the decision to further improve the quality of the game. The new release date will be announced at a later date."

Given that this is an Unreal Engine 5 project—a major departure from the series' usual engine—it’s likely the "polish" involves optimizing those massive 1-vs-1,000 battles and refining the new 360-degree defense system.

What’s Still in the Remaster?

Despite the delay, the core promise of the Complete Edition remains intact. This is the first time we’re getting the original 2001 classic and its Xtreme Legends expansion in one high-definition package.

The Silver Lining: Origins DLC is LIVE!

While we wait for the DW3 nostalgia trip, the "Three Kingdoms" hype is currently being sustained by Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

  • Switch 2 Launch: Origins officially landed on the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 22, 2026, with a surprisingly solid port.

  • Visions of Four Heroes DLC: The first major expansion is out now! It features four "What If" campaigns for Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and Lu Bu. It even adds new weapon types like the Bow and Rope Dart.

Verdict: Quality Over Speed

As a veteran who remembers the "fog of war" on the PS2, I’d rather wait for a buttery-smooth UE5 experience than a rushed release. Plus, with the Origins DLC adding roughly 10+ hours of new story content, we have plenty to grind while Koei Tecmo polishes Lu Bu’s armor.

Are you going to spend the delay mastering the "What If" stories in Origins, or is your heart set on the DW3 nostalgia? Let me know in the comments—Lu Bu mains, stay patient!

Share this with your bodyguard squad, and stay locked for the new release date.

Stay questing!
