Rumor: Resident Evil Requiem Leak Might Reveal Surprise Playable Character

(Warning: Possible spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem.)

GameStop may have prematurely revealed that Rosemary Winters is one of Resident Evil Requiem’s playable characters. With rumors swirling and often contradicting one another, it has been difficult for fans to discern what’s real. This latest leak adds yet another twist, especially since it may clash with one of the biggest ongoing rumors about the game.

GameStop Listing Hints at Rosemary Winters as a Playable Character

A Reddit user, Hot-Challenge-2755, spotted that an official GameStop listing for the Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition briefly included Rosemary Winters as a playable character alongside Grace Ashcroft, who is currently the only confirmed playable character. The listing also mentioned two bonus cosmetics for Rose, suggesting her inclusion wasn’t a simple typo.

GameStop has since removed Rose’s name from the page, which may indicate a genuine accidental leak—or an incorrect placeholder. Capcom producer Masato Kumazawa previously confirmed that Requiem will feature returning characters, making Rose a plausible choice. Still, many fans had expected Leon S. Kennedy to be the major returning character instead.

Conflicting Leaks Stir Confusion About Playable Characters

Several leaks have suggested Leon will return as a playable character in Resident Evil Requiem, including a previous listing from the PlayStation Store. That seems to conflict with GameStop’s apparent reveal, leaving fans unsure which store—if either—is accurate.

Timeline concerns add more uncertainty. Based on what’s known about Grace Ashcroft’s storyline, Rose would be around six or seven years old during the game’s events. Many fans think it’s unlikely Capcom would make a child protagonist playable, making the GameStop leak appear questionable.

Leon presents the opposite issue. If he appears in Requiem, he would be significantly older than his past portrayals. Some allegedly leaked images showed an older Leon, though prominent leaker Dusk Golem has claimed those images were fake. Dusk Golem also previously stated the game might feature three playable characters, though Rose was not among the characters mentioned.

Fans Should Remain Skeptical Until Capcom Confirms More

At this point, neither Rosemary Winters nor Leon Kennedy is officially confirmed for Resident Evil Requiem. The conflicting information means fans should treat every leak with caution.

Fortunately, more clarity may be coming soon. Resident Evil Requiem is set to appear at The Game Awards on December 11, where Capcom may finally provide solid details about the game’s characters and structure.
