Season's Lootings: 5x Legendary Drop Rates
Gearbox has officially launched the Season's Lootings holiday event for Borderlands 4, which is set to run until January 8, 2026. This event provides a massive boost to loot efficiency:
Massive Buff: Players are now 5x more likely to receive Legendary drops during gameplay.
Target Farming: This is the ideal time to round off builds or farm gear for secondary characters before the grind returns to normal.
Exclusions: To maintain rarity, the 5x buff does not apply to Big Encore Bosses or the Bloomreaper.
Design Intent: Gearbox maintains that despite the "absurd" rate, Legendaries will still feel "special" and infrequent enough to satisfy the game's core design.
Triple Boss Encore and Holiday Break
To allow the development team time to rest over the holidays, several game systems have been set to a static "Triple Threat" mode until the team returns:
Active Bosses: Three Big Encore Bosses (True Bosses) are active at the same time, giving players multiple endgame targets simultaneously.
Schedule Freeze: Weekly Activities and boss rotations will remain unchanged until January 8, 2026.
Exploit Fix: A new minor update has patched a bug where Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM) rewards could be claimed in non-UVHM Bloomreaper fights.
Looking Ahead: The 2026 Roadmap
While player engagement has seen a slight dip after the strong launch on Kairos, Gearbox has a major plan to reinvigorate the community in the coming year:
First Story Pack: Titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, this will be the first major narrative expansion for the game.
New Vault Hunter: The expansion will introduce C4SH, the first post-launch Vault Hunter added to the roster.
Content Strategy: These big content drops are designed to bring players back into the fold once they have completed their initial playthroughs.
