Borderlands 4 Post-Launch Content Announcement Is Good News for Fans

Gearbox has delivered a welcome surprise for Borderlands 4 players by expanding its post-launch content plans and releasing the first Bounty Pack as a free gift. After weeks of relative silence from the studio, fans were greeted with a new update, fresh content, and confirmation that even more DLC is coming.

A Free Holiday-Themed Bounty Pack Kicks Things Off

Originally planned as a paid DLC, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day has been released free for all players as a thank-you gesture. This festive, smaller-scale expansion throws players into the Borderlands universe’s chaotic version of the holiday season. The mission centers on a showdown with Mister Screw, with Outbounders leader Rush taking a starring role.

Players can dive into a variety of new cosmetics, attachments, vehicles, and four legendary weapons with re-rollable parts. For those who bought the Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, or the Bounty Pack Bundle, the gift initially raised concerns about losing expected paid content.

Gearbox Confirms a Fifth Bounty Pack for 2026

To ensure premium edition owners receive the full value originally promised, Gearbox has announced that Bounty Pack 5 will be added to the post-launch lineup in 2026. This brings the total number of premium Bounty Packs to five rather than four, keeping the commitments of the higher-tier editions intact.

This confirmation also aligns with the recently updated 2026 roadmap, which now reflects the shift of Bounty Pack 1 to a free update and expands the “Beyond Q1 2026” section to include more long-term content.

Fans Hope for More Substantial Updates Moving Forward

Borderlands 4’s first major event, Horrors of Kairos, received mixed reactions due to its limited scope and grind-heavy structure. Many felt that the rewards and encounter design fell short of past seasonal events in the series.

Players have been vocal about Borderlands 4’s thin endgame offerings, noting that weekly missions and a single farmable boss leave the late-game loop feeling incomplete. The free Bounty Pack offers a much-needed boost in optional content.

Big Challenges and Bigger Rewards on the Horizon

December will introduce Borderlands 4’s first Invincible Boss, known as the Bloomreaper, giving high-level players a formidable new challenge to overcome. Those who prevail will earn powerful new legendary weapons. Alongside this encounter, an additional Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level will give min-maxers more room to refine and test their builds.

With new DLC, expanded endgame content, and more updates promised, Borderlands 4 appears to be gearing up for a stronger post-launch cycle that has fans excited for what comes next.
